Founded in Houston, Texas in 1978, the Shears Companies specialize

From the real estate collapse of the 80's to the recovery of the 90's,
our methods have followed the same fundamental, conservative path, allowing
us to take advantage of the market conditions and to continue to make

Our senior management team takes a hands-on approach to every one of our

development, construction, leasing, and ongoing property management. Our

Our long-term philosophy is to own and operate, not to develop and
sell. Over ninety percent of the properties that we have developed
are still owned by the Shears Companies.

We are currently consolidating groups of properties for simultaneous
development across the southern United States and have implemented
an aggressive plan for expansion in the major U.S. markets. By concentrating
on key retail properties in growing areas, we are custom tailoring
our current and future projects to meet the expressed needs of our
tenants while continuing to own and operate the properties.

The People Behind the Name
Charles W. Shears, CEO and President, has been involved in
real estate brokerage and development for leading companies throughout
Texas since 1983, Charles joined Shears Investments in 1989 to analyze
property acquisitions and to oversee project development. In 1992,
he consolidated his personal experience and in joining, fortified
the Shears Companies through his business acumen and aggressive vision
for growth.
Dr. Charles G. Shears, Chairman, founded MacGregor Dental
Centers, Inc., the largest dental management company in the southwest,
in 1960. He later started Shears Investments as a vehicle to acquire
retail centers, office and professional buildings. Since selling
the MacGregor Dental Centers in 1996, Dr. Shears has turned his
attention to real estate development and investments.
